For research into how solid tumours (breast, skin and lung) spread to the bone and cause bone breakdown. The treatment of the solid tumours and their regulation by hormones and drugs. The foundation's second project established the Cancer Research Centre at The Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne. The major aims of the Cancer Research Centre were the investigation of the ways in which some common cancers (lung, breast, prostate and kidney) spread to the bone and cause excessive bone dissolution. The centre was also involved in the investigation of ways in which growth of these common cancers can be regulated by hormones and drugs.
