Australian Cancer Research Foundation is proud to welcome Navigate Advisory as a founding partner of Accelerators @Work, our new corporate regular giving program built for Australian small and medium businesses.
Through a regular monthly gift, Navigate Advisory is helping fund world-class cancer research and joining a growing community of Australian businesses backing the researchers working to change the outlook for the more than 2 in 5 Australians who will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85.
For Navigate Advisory Managing Director Harry Moustakas, becoming a founding partner was the natural next step in a relationship that already spans several years. Since 2023, the firm has partnered with the "Old Blokes Driving for Cancer" fundraising initiative to raise more than $230,000 for ACRF, and it runs a pro bono financial advice program for people experiencing financial hardship during cancer treatment.
Harry has spent more than 30 years in financial planning and says it’s ACRF's openness about where the money goes that keeps him involved. "What I like about ACRF is the transparency. I've seen firsthand where the grants go and the impact they're having," he says.
At Navigate Advisory, giving back is built into how the business runs rather than sitting alongside it, and Harry believes that strengthens the firm inside and out.
"It strengthens the relationship because you're connecting over shared values, not just financial outcomes," he says.
It also gives his team, spread across financial planning, accounting and mortgage broking, a shared sense of purpose beyond their day-to-day roles.
Accelerators @Work was designed for exactly this kind of commitment: a simple, practical way for small and medium businesses to build regular giving into how they operate, from $250 a month.
Harry's advice to other business owners considering the same step is to start with your values.
"If it's part of your purpose and your values, embed it into your business. Involve your team, make it meaningful and make it something everyone can contribute to," he says. "Supporting causes that create meaningful change is one of the most valuable investments a business can make."
We are grateful to Navigate Advisory for leading the way, and we invite other Australian businesses to join this growing community of monthly supporters.
