Will and Kale ride for cancer research

Last week, two teenagers from Coffs Harbour showed us what can be achieved with the right motivation and support.

With almost 600km of NSW coastline ahead of them, Will and Kale left Coffs Harbour on Friday June 24 to the cheers of their local community – their impending six-day cycle made smoother through the knowledge that they had already reached their $10,000 target for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

Will and Kale’s training and fundraising campaign had been running for months, with local business, schools, the council and even the local bank branch chipping in to see the boys reach their target.

“The way these young men motivated the entire community to raise $10,000 for cancer research is a fantastic achievement,” said Jill Deering, General Manager of ACRF.

“They are a credit to themselves and their families, who we understand have experienced cancer first-hand.

“We were thrilled to finally meet them and thank them when they rode into Sydney.”

Their arrival at the iconic Sydney Opera House was a joyous occasion, with family, friends and a team of ACRF staff waiting to congratulate them at the finish line.

ABC 702 has since interviewed Will and Kale on their achievement, and it goes without saying they’ve been local media stars on NBN news and through various Coffs Harbour newspapers.

Will and Kale, we hope you’re enjoying a well-deserved rest. Thank you again for such an amazing effort, on what we hope was a personal milestone for you both. Congratulations – you did it!
