Join us throughout September and show your clients that you are a lifesaver
ACRF’s Brave Shave is a bold fundraising campaign in the month of September inspiring Australians to shave, cut, or colour their hair in support of those bravely facing cancer. This year, in support of the campaign, we’re calling on hair professionals to become Brave Shave Salon champions by making a donation per haircut or colour treatment throughout September. Brave Shave Salons receive:
• An official Brave Shave Salon pack with digital assets to promote your support. • A dedicated relationship manager from the ACRF partnerships team on hand for help and advice. • Official ACRF agreement, giving you the confidence and authority to fundraise on behalf of ACRF and recognising of your fundraising efforts.
Transform your salon into a Brave Shave Salon that supports lifesaving cancer research and stand with the countless brave Australians who face cancer every day. The ones who bravely stare down a diagnosis and face it head on.
Emily Somers is a dreamer and a traveller, a collector and a designer, she spent her days as an Art Director in a bubble of colour and happiness before her diagnosis. Then she got sick. Real sick. She got cancer. Not once, not twice but three times. And do you know what, she beat it. Not once, not twice but three times.
Inspired by her own experience of chemo, cancer, naps, and turbans, she’s on a mission to create some cool cancer headwear in the hope to give bravery to others going through something she knows only too well. Her Melbourne based business full of beautiful things is called Bravery Co.
We were thrilled to meet so many hairdressing professionals interested in Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) at the Hair Festival on June 29th-30th at ICC Sydney!

A huge thanks to our session speakers for “Compassion in Conversation” on June 29th. It was fantastic to hear from ACRF Brave Shave ambassador, Emily Somers, and gain tools for sensitive and supportive conversations with clients facing hair changes and loss.
Together we can transform bravery into breakthroughs that save lives.
Hair loss can be one of the most confronting parts of a cancer diagnosis, especially because it’s so visual. You can hide nausea or fatigue, but losing your hair makes it public. This guide, developed by ACRF’s Brave Shave Ambassador, Emily Sommers, will give you pratical tips along with insights to help you navigate these moments with your clients.
