A survivor of uterine cancer, local Geelong identity Phillipa Challis OAM wanted to give back to the community. Working with the Australian Cancer Research Foundation, the “Geelong Region Cancerians” was founded with a dedicated team of volunteers at the beginning of 2018.
Phillipa’s vision, which has been adopted by the committee, is to raise awareness of uterine cancer and raise funds for research into uterine and all other cancers.
Led by the capable and accomplished Chair, Helene Bender OAM, this vibrant, dedicated group have many bold ideas for raising awareness and funds. Following their public launch in April 2018 they will be holding an annual wine drive (May 24 to June 30, 2018), trivia nights, a Murder Mystery dinner, professional networking functions and other special events designed to interest and inform their communities, as well as raise much needed funds for essential cancer research.
