Lisa loses her locks

 Cancer fundraising Cancer fundraising

When a close friend started to undergo treatment for cancer, supporter Lisa Stoddart decided it was time to do something. It was Lisa’s long locks that were to be sacrificed in honour of a beautiful friend and to support cancer research.

In her own words, “I’m quite attached to my hair… so I was hoping I could raise some money as a by-product of cutting it off and it could go to a charity”

With just 2 weeks until her shave Lisa jumped into fundraising & the money started rolling in. As friends, family and colleagues rallied behind her – Lisa’s donation target of $2,500 was quickly surpassed. The generosity continued throughout the weeks leading up to the event showing great support of Lisa and her dear friend Amanda.

When the big moment arrived in The Toohey’s Tap Room, some enthusiastic supporters were a little too willing to assist in chopping off the hair, according to Lisa.

A phenomenal $8,750 has been raised already, with some generous funds still to come thanks to Lisa’s workplace, Lion, who match employee donations. And best of all, the lopped-off locks have gone to a wig maker for patients undergoing chemo.

The ACRF would like to say a huge thank you to Lisa for taking the plunge and raising so much, our best wishes to Amanda in her treatment, and thanks to all the generous people who contributed to this fundraiser – every dollar every donation goes to cancer research.
