Vocalist Nina Ferro performed at the jazz. Parliament House is one of Melbourne's best known landmarks. Its hallowed halls echoed with the dulcet tones of Nina Ferro in an afternoon of jazz to raise money for the Melbourne Cancerians. Over 150 attended the Jazz, held in the architecturally significant Queens Hall. A short auction raised over $4000, with the feature prize being a Table for Ten at the Grand Final Footy Show. Over $11,000 was raised on the day, with guests embracing the event as an annual fundraiser for the Cancerians.  In the second year the Melbourne Cancerians staged this popular fundraising event it was proudly sponsored by Simon and Susan Stribling in memory of their mother, Marg Stribling, who died of breast cancer in November 2003.

Melbourne Cancerians indulged in two successful wine tasting nights at Leonard Joels Auctions, South Yarra. Both the events - a Grange tasting that coincided with the release of the much-awaited 1998 Penfolds Grange, and a Spring Racing Champagne Tasting - were organised by one of the committee’s foundation sponsors Peter Marr, from Peter Marr Wine Trader. Peter is now offering a fabulous Wine Rebate Scheme (a percentage return on purchases) for friends of the Melbourne Cancerians, a must for those serious about good wines and competitive prices! Through the scheme, the committee aim to regularly raise funds for cancer research. The offer applies to all wines, and includes free delivery, online specials and email orders.
