Home Australian Cancer Research Launceston Cancerians

A very effective fundraising group, the Launceston Cancerians initially channelled their energies into raising funds for the ACRF via a handful of intimate ‘themed’ events every year, attracting between 30-50 guests per event. In February 2004, the Committee’s decision to take on the challenge of organising a larger annual event that ‘engaged the youth of Launceston’ proved a good one. In the first year, more than 100 people attended the event at Tamar Ridge Wines vineyards.

In 2008 the Launceston Committee held the ever popular - Entally jazz event. It is an afternoon of music, wining and dining at magnificent 1819 Tasmanian Homestead, Entally House.  See below

Launceston Entally

Jazzin’ away the arvo in the Tassie sun… Entally is THE event in Launceston. This year it was sponsored by The Document Centre and Tony Bush - and was a charming hit. All the members of the Launceston Cancerians Committee, headed up by Rachel Williams, worked diligently to ensure the success of the event. The day was balmy and restless.

The vintage Tasmanian wine flowed in abundance. The food - mouthwatering. To top it off - the jazz band was flawless and melodic. We got dressed to the hilt. We ate fine cheeses to our stomach’s content. We drifted away in a ‘jazzy’ dream. And best of all…we raised about $4000 for innovative cancer research.

Entally HouseLaunceston's Lunch at Entally... The magnificent Entally House and surrounding gardens were the setting for a fun day for all the family hosted by the Launceston Cancerians Committee. The weather was perfect for a relaxing barbeque on the lawn with a big band, a string quartet and some special and very popular wine tastings to entertain the adults, with face painting to occupy the kids.

The afternoon progressed with tours of the beautiful cottage and the gardens. The outside attractions such as the stables were also opened. A big thank you to those who gave their support, illustrating the strong sense of community spirit in Tassie.  This event would not have been possible without the support of Mr. Tony Bush and The Document Centre - the main sponsor for the event.
