• Authority to conduct a fundraiser in support of the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) is granted subject to strict compliance with the provision of the Charitable Fundraising Act, 1991.

• Also, if necessary, you should seek approval from any relevant authorities, i.e. police, local councils, schools, etc. You should also find out if there is any insurance you might need to cover your event, either for public liability, the venue or any other aspects specific to your fundraiser.
• In promoting your fundraiser, if you wish to utilise the Australian Cancer Research Foundation’s name or logo on any materials or products, you must obtain prior permission from the ACRF. All printed material must be forwarded to the ACRF for approval before being circulated.
• Once you have received written acknowledgement from the Foundation to go ahead with your fundraiser, you should then contact anyone who you think might be in a position to help your fundraiser, such as venue managers, entertainment or catering companies, or anyone who may be able to provide sponsorship of any kind. This is an important aspect of any fundraiser as it can mean that costs are minimised.
• The Foundation is unable to pay any expenses incurred by you, but you may deduct any necessary expenses from the proceeds of the fundraiser, provided they are properly documented and the details forwarded to us. Ideally, costs should not exceed 20% of total proceeds.
• The Australian Cancer Research Foundation can provide official receipts for donations of $2 or more from approved events. The Foundation will send out these receipts provided that the person coordinating the fundraiser provides a register of all attendees/supporters eligible for a tax-deductible receipt. For more information, please refer to our Events & Tax Deductions page.
