FEATURED OUTCOME:
ACRF will fund a world class Centre for Basic and Translational Cancer Research as part of a Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC) on the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital site. The CCC will achieve excellence in clinical care and research. Research translation is the pre-eminent objective.

Senior Researchers:   Professor Bruce Armstrong, Director of Research at Sydney Cancer Centre (one of the Foundation's first grant recipients.) and A/Professor Michael Boyer

Expected benefits:  A state-of-the-art facility, the centre will house the basic and translational research components of a Comprehensive Cancer Centre (only the second in Australia).  The new centre will extend the reach of basic biological research on cancer and its translation into cancer prevention and control. The CCC will achieve excellence in clinical care and research.

The planning and promotion of a Comprehensive Cancer Centre is a very important Australian initiative in cancer research.  It is being built on the foundation of the Sydney Cancer Centre and house at least 240 researchers connected to RPA and the University of Sydney.
