On 21st December 2001 legislation was introduced dealing with the way personal information is handled.

Our Commitment
We are committed to protecting the personal information of our donors.  Our donors’ privacy is of paramount concern to us because we appreciate and value our supporters.  We would like to explain to you our approach to the privacy of your information.

Why we collect information
The Australian Cancer Research Foundation relies on financial support from the public to provide funding for cancer research. We do not receive any government funding therefore we must rely on the generosity of the public, people such as yourself. The Foundation uses the information we collect about our donors to provide information such as newsletters or appeals in the future. When you receive these communications we of course hope that you will choose to continue to support our work in cancer research however you may decide not to support us or, to wait until some point in the future. The choice is yours and we will respect your wishes.

How we collect information
The Australian Cancer Research Foundation collects information in many different ways. We have information on our database concerning each person who has generously donated to us. The information we collect comes from sources such as In-memoriam donation envelopes, Appeal responses and from those who send in a donation with their personal details.

How we manage your information
We only use the information we hold about our donors for the purpose of communication with them. 
The Australian Cancer Research Foundation does not rent out, sell or otherwise share its donor information with any other organisation under any circumstances.
If your details appear on our donor database we will continue to send you information about the Australian Cancer Research Foundation which we trust will be of interest to you. If however, you would prefer not to receive information about the Australian Cancer Research Foundation in the future please contact us on 1300 884 988.

Your rights
You have the right to access the personal information the Australian Cancer Research Foundation holds about you. If your details should change or if you would like access to the information we hold about you please contact us on 1300 884 988.
