Dr Russell Thomson
Research Interests: Dr Thomson’s research interests include the development of techniques used in the search for the genetic determinants of disease. In collaboration with Dr Jim Stankovich and others, he is interested in techniques that blur the boundary between linkage and association analysis. While his research is predominantly data driven, he is interested in theoretical development in such topics as the detection of genetic selection and relatedness. Dr Thomson is also interested in the development of statistical techniques for the analysis of cohort studies. In this capacity, he collaborates with Associate Professor Alison Venn and others involved in the Childhood Determinants of Adult Health (CDAH) Project.
