The upcoming 2010 symposium will mark the opening of a dedicated childhood cancer drug discovery unit at the Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia (CCIA).

The Lowy Symposium will be the first in a series of biennial cancer research conferences.

The symposium will specifically mark the opening of the Lowy Cancer Research Centre and the Australian Cancer Research Foundation Drug Discovery Centre for Childhood Cancer (which will be housed in the Lowy Centre). ACRF provided $3.1 million for the funding of this Drug Discovery Centre.

The Lowy Symposium is a joint initiative of Children’s Cancer Institute Australia for Medical Research and the University of New South Wales.
